## Ingredients

- 4 slice bacon — chopped into small pieces

- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey

- ½ cup chopped onion — about half of one small onion

- 2 tbsp tomato paste

- 1 tsp mustard

- 2 oz cream cheese

- ½ cup chicken or beef broth

- ½ tsp onion powder

- ½ tsp garlic powder

- ¼ tsp salt

- ¼ tsp pepper

- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

## Equipment

- Lidded skillet

- Mixing bowl

- Instant-read thermometer

## Cook

Prepare cold sides first. Keep raw-poultry tools separate; use clean serving utensils. Probe more than one thick piece. A timer is not a doneness test.

1. **Bacon.** Lightly grease the skillet and cook bacon over medium until crisp. Transfer it to a plate, reserving only the source-specified portion of grease in the pan.

2. **Meat.** Brown ground meat and onion in the retained bacon fat. Drain excess fat.

3. **Sauce.** Add tomato paste, mustard, cream cheese, broth and dry seasonings. Stir until cream cheese melts and the sauce comes together.

4. **Finish.** Turn heat to low. Add the cooked bacon and cheddar on top, cover and cook for 5–7 minutes until cheese melts.

## Nutrition per serving

Calories: 423 kcal; protein: 25.0 g; total carbs: 5.3 g; fiber: 0.5 g; net carbs: 4.8 g

Publisher estimate per original portion; proportional ingredient scaling preserves that portion.

Known allergens for these plates: milk. Check product labels and cross-contact.

## First-cook checks and limits

- Source retains 1 tbsp bacon fat; scalable method uses retained rendered fat proportional to batch.

- Ingredient quantities are scaled from 4 original portions to four portions. Fractions of whole items may need weighing or dividing after preparation. Larger batches need extra cooking space or batches; keep thickness and endpoint checks.

- Adapted from Annie. This adaptation has not been kitchen-tested.

- Safe doneness checks are added to the publisher method; timers alone do not establish doneness.

## Leftovers

Refrigerate in shallow containers within two hours, or one hour above 90°F. Use within 3–4 days or freeze; reheat to 165°F. Keep cold greens and yogurt separate.
